Preparing for sleep learning

If you feel like sleep training is right for you and your family, you can prepare a list of your goals for sleep training and the methods you’re comfortable using. With all of the sleep support and science you’ve already practiced, what can sleep learning do to improve sleep for your baby and you? Some parents may find that they’re happy with the way things are for now and aren’t interested in sleep learning. Other parents want more sleep support through learning, which is perfectly healthy and normal.

No one-size-fits-all sleep training programs

There are a wide range of sleep needs and skills and not one program works for everyone. If sleep learning feels right for you, start researching options so you have a game plan that works for the whole family. Remember that most babies don’t develop the skill of self soothing until closer to 6 months of age, or even later, which is why the AAP recommends sleep training after 6 months. But that doesn’t mean you can’t start preparing for the sleep learning process now.
